What is Sustainability?
From the EPA website:
The traditional definition of sustainability calls for polices and strategies that meet society’s present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. epa.gov/sustainability
Sustainable practices are those that bring quality of life to our community and are also beneficial to future generations.
Buy Local - Buy American
Supporting your community means buying from local companies and buying products that are made in America. When we buy local products we are voting for more jobs to be available in our communities. Buying local is a very good GOOD NEIGHBOR policy.
Regift It!
Regifting is a great way for an unused item to become useful and postpones it's trip to the landfill. Regifting is reusing but not recycling. Recycling is where an item is remanufactured into a new item. Reduce, reuse, recycle! Reducing the number of products used takes first priority. Reusing is second best and recycling is a last resort. Regifting is a great way for an item to find someone who can use what you find useless. Reducing the number of "new" gifts you give assures that fewer of our limited resources take a trip to the landfill.
